Stellus Systems\' Announces Production Release of its Palm Driver Suite Palm users now have available a GPS Receiver for many applications without the need for a separate Bluetooth device
Stellus System, Inc.,

/Consumer Electronics News Articles/ - Palo Alto, CA, May 26, 2005 - Palo Alto, CA - May 25, 2005 - Stellus System, Inc., a leading system integrator of wireless communication products, announced today the production release of their Palm driver suite for their StarNetTM GPS SDIO receiver, a high-performance, rugged GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver with a SDIO (Secure Digital Input/Output) interface. Simply plug in the StarNet GSP SDIO receiver into a Palm PDA and you can use it for in-car navigation or other location-specific information applications.

Stellus has partnered with iGolf Technologies, the provider of the SDIO GPS driver for Palm OS , to facilitate the successful introduction of its product. "Stellus has done a tremendous job engineering StarNet to meet the demands of discriminating customers worldwide", said Dan Galatro, Vice President of iGolf Technologies, Inc. "The design and convenience of this unit will be appreciated by all who purchase this product."

StarNet is a GPS accessory that puts navigation and find-and-locate capabilities for home or business addresses, ATMs, restaurants and recreational activities (such as golf, boating and hiking), at your fingertips - a map-in-your-hand that helps you get where you're going. The Palm handheld market is poised for SDIO accessories, such as GPS, and Stellus' solution is ideal for Palm-based products that have SDIO Now! interface that include: Tungsten E, T, T2, T3; Zire 31, 71, 72; and Zodiac by Tapwave.

"The Palm market has been anxiously awaiting a GPS receiver that works in the SDIO slot," said Craig Conkling, CEO of Stellus Systems. "No longer is Bluetooth GPS needed to interface to your PDA, just download the drivers and plug in our solution and go!," he added.

Stellus' innovative design combines a high-performance GPS antenna and receiver, with a SDIO interface IC (integrated circuit), in a compact housing that fits in your brief case or pocket and weighs less than one ounce. StarNet consumes less than 200 mW in tracking mode and has an accuracy of 3 meters (CEP - 50% of the time) and 6 meters (2DRMS - 95% of the time). And since today's Palm-based products, such as the Tungsten E has a SDIO interface, it's a perfect fit.

"Our product's unique design is robust and versatile, making it easy to use in mobile devices with SDIO Now! interface," said Craig Conkling. "With the release of our Palm driver suite, along with our recent announcement of worldwide certification, we are continuing to meet the demand of our customers," he added.
