E-Cigarette Opponents Continue Attacks, Despite No Evidence Showing Harm
Even though e-cigarettes have been under fire from health officials since their popularity started to pick up steam in America, no evidence proving their danger may be what kills their argument for good.

GAINESVILLE, FL, July 22, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Unfortunately for the e-cigarette community, health organizations and other special interest groups continue to speak out against e-cigarettes. With no evidence showing that the products are harmful (at the very least, more harmful than tobacco cigarettes), the accusations could only be called slander by the public relations manager for a popular e-cigarette affiliate.

"You can't call it anything else," says George Archer, Public Relations Manager for Ecigarettesnational.com. "They're going around saying these things with absolutely no proof whatsoever and it's libel... the print version of slander. These people have yet to have their own medical studies produced on these products, while the manufacturers have put forth at least 2 showing that the products are not only significantly safer than tobacco cigarettes, but safe even when compared to nothing else."

The argument over evidence between the two continue due to the fact that they were paid for by e-cigarette manufacturers, but with at least one of the laboratories being recognized by the government of the United Kingdom and the other run by a former principle medical officer of the Ministry of Health in New Zealand, many claim the accusations are unfounded.

"It figures how they were yelling to start with that we had no proof to show that they were safe, then the industry gives them proof, now all of a sudden all the proof presented is biased and untrustworthy because we paid to have the studies done," says Archer. "So, when the FDA or American Lung Association or some other group puts out their study that says they're dangerous, we're going to say that their studies are biased because they were against us to start with when they had no evidence. That's only fair, isn't it?"

Fair or unfair, what's clear is that this battle over the health of millions of Americans and the bystanders around them is far from over. The growing public support for the products has become a thorn in the side of those who seek to ban it, but with no evidence showing harm, the movement by officials to ban the products could be dead in the water.
