Accessory Power teams up with PowerGenix to release exciting new AA Technology
Accessory Power introduces Nickel-Zinc batteries, an exciting new standard for AA/AAA developed by PowerGenix. Nickel-Zinc batteries give consumers the ability to recharge combined with the higher voltage output of traditional alkaline batteries.
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA, April 03, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Accessory Power (http://www.AccessoryPower.com), is set to team up with innovative technology leaders PowerGenix to bring to market an astounding new development in AA battery technology, the Nickel-Zinc battery. Originally the invention of Thomas Edison, until recent innovations by PowerGenix the Nickel-Zinc battery was considered too expensive to produce. PowerGenix's recent breakthroughs in engineering have changed this playing field, producing a high-voltage rechargeable battery that is destined to challenge alkaline's grip on the market.
Until now, green-minded consumers have had to contend with lower voltage solutions like nickel-cadmium and nickel metal hydride. NiZn batteries give consumers the power of an alkaline battery with the environmentally-friendly capacity of repeated use by recharging. A traditional alkaline battery produces an average of 1.5 volts of power, and NiMH and NiCD chemistries produce even less power, typically about 1.2 volts. NiZn tops them all with 1.6 volts, meaning that consumers will not need to worry about low power performance with high-energy drain devices when using NiZn batteries.
NiZn batteries are also non-toxic (unlike NiCd) and not subject to the explosive nature of lithium-ion batteries, and are almost 100% completely recyclable. The performance characteristics of zinc don't break down during recycling, so it's possible to create valued products out of recycled Nickel-Zinc batteries even after its use as a battery. Although Li-Ion and NiMH batteries are considered recyclable, care needs to be taken while shipping and handling due to the flammability of the constituent parts. Nickel-Zinc has proven itself to not be subject to these concerns in numerous tests.
NiZn batteries can reliably deliver a minimum of 150 charge/discharge cycles, and can be relied upon to considerably exceed this level depending on use and operation. Self-discharge is typically about 8 percent per month when batteries are stored at room temperature, comparable to other rechargeable batteries.
Accessory Power plans to carry PowerGenix AA batteries beginning 2nd Quarter along with the PowerGenix Quick Charger necessary to recharge the batteries. In addition packages including C and D adapaters will be made available. The pricing for NiZn batteries is expected to be 20-30% lower than current pricing for NiMH batteries.
